I saw that last night. It has Centuri Aerospace Team stickers on it, and may use Centuri parts, but it's a scratch built bird. Kinda cool looking, though.

Interesting use of a Nike Smoke nose cone.

Checking the archives (Ninfinger...), I'm not finding a kit of this. It looks like a 'throw-down' of a bunch of Centuri parts (and not that badly done, either!). That NC is likely the PNC-167, used in the Nike-Smoke. That means the main BT is an ST-16.

The vertical fin and stabilizer look like they came from, or were patterned after, a Mach-10...

I'd suggest this is an original design, maybe by someone who contributed it to the "Rocket Times" contest. It might have been the prototype. Nice looking design, in any event.

I kept looking at those fins, and couldn't help thinking I'd seen them somewhere before.

I'm about 120% sure you could piece together that arrangement from a Centuri/Semroc SST Shuttle 3/32" main fin sheet. <big evil grin>

Furthermore, some of those decals look like they're from a Centuri Quasar.

Default I kinda had a....

Thanks guys.

I thought I might have missed this one in the catalogs.

I kinda had an idea it was a scratch built bird.

Nice rocket, I might try to clone this with a different color, white.

dlazarus6660,

I threw together a VERY rough RockSim file for this design, and it looks like it should fly just great on B6-4s and C6-5s!

The only name I could think of to designate its lineage was "Nike SST." I'll clean up the file later and post it over in the Designer's Forum.

And the only (small) difficulty I see will be approximating the Centuri PNC-167 Nike Smoke nose cone in balsa. Carl McLawhorn doesn't have it up on his Semroc website, as far as I know.

But yeah. This design is VERY cool.

Kitbash. I think it is very much the Centuri Nike cone based upon the offset attachment ring. I think Quest still has some 35mm Nike Smoke NC available if you wanted to go that route. It almost looks like the plastic twist ring tail cone from the earlier release. I think I can see ribs on the aft end of the model.

Nicely done. The only observation is that the span might be closer to nine inches. If the tiles on the floor are twelve inch then the span appears to be about 3/4 of a tile.
