Default 2017 Jarosch Cup Rules

The proposal for the 2017 Jarosch Cup Rules were presented at the WOOSH June
meeting.
The draft proposal was made by 2016 Jarosch Cup Champion- Don Freiders.
It was accepted unanimously by the attending members.
The rules for the 2017 Jarosch Cup are as follows:

2017 Jarosch Cup Rules

The 2017 Jarosch Cup Competition “Happy To-Cheddar” is a spot landing
competition in two parts.

Part One of the competition will be the launch and retrieval of the traditional
ECOF Cheese payload.

One half ounce of Wisconsin’s finest cheddar will be provided in a sealed
package by last year’s Jarosch Cup “winner”. The Part One launch must be
successfully completed before the contestant may proceed to the actual
spot-landing competition (Part Two).

Part One Rules: The only requirement for the successful completion of Part One
is the successful launch and non-ballistic retrieval of the cheese payload. One
cheese payload per contestant. For simplicity’s sake, only single-motor launch
vehicles will be allowed. Now for the fun stuff: The Part One launch is an
UNLIMITED motor class launch, using any type of launch vehicle and recovery
method which meets NAR safety rules. Since the objective of Part One is to
launch and retrieve, you may choose glider, tumble, streamer, helicopter or
parachute recovery. So in order to complete Part One successfully, the cheese
payload must be retrieved, and the landing must not be ballistic.

Part Two Rules: This will be a closest-to-the-pad competition using cheese
payload from the qualifying Part One launch for the same contestant. The motor
used for the Part Two launch must be exactly two motor classes (either larger or
smaller) than the motor size from the Part One launch. For example, if a class C
motor is used for the Part One launch, then either a class A or a class E motor
may be used for the Part two launch.

If the contestant desires, additional Part Two launches may be attempted, as
long as no ballistic landings have occurred, and the same cheese payload for the
same contestant is reused.
(end)

We look forward to another great competition as part of this year's EAT CHEESE
OR FLY to be held AUGUST 19 and 20.

Questions regarding the rules should be directed to 2017 Jarosch Cup Contest
