Estes Goliath
I guess this is the proper area for this question. Right now there is an Estes Goliath kit for sale on e-bay, and in all honesty I'd forgotten about that particular model. It came out during one of the periods that i was away from flying, but still trying to stay aware of what was going on in the hobby [late 70's]. The Goliath was basically a stretched Maxi-Alpha, was it not? Anyone have an idea on the BT length?

I don't remember a Goliath. The Colossus is basically a stretched Maxi Alpha. If it is the Colossus you're thinking of, it used four WBT-80A tubes at 9" each and one WBT-80MA at 3.22". So I guess the combined length would be 39.22" for the body tubes. Tom C. Last edited by conleyt : 05-27-2009 at 04:49 PM. |

http://cgi.ebay.com/COLOSSUS-VINTAG...%3A1%7C294%3A50 I did not see the Goliath, but I could swear I saw it not too long ago (as in this morning?). Maybe I just missed it........ Perhaps it was a BIN? Allen |

The Goliath was only sold in the Mega Maxx starter set. It had two pink body tubes, each 9" long. I believe they were BT-56. Overall, including nose cone and coupler, it was about 28" long.
Definitely not related to Maxi Alpha III... |

It's actually a stretched Maxi Alpha III. The Maxi Alpha had balsa fins, the Maxi Alpha III and Colossus had a plastic fin can with a short piece of body tube sandwiched between the rings. Body tube lengths are: two BT-80's at 18", and one BT-80 at 3.25".
