Ridiculous overvaluation of a kit that is not that rare.

What if someone who is very wealthy, like Jeff Bezos, collected model rocketry memorabilia? People like that don't think about value and cost the way most of us do. If it were me, I would probably hire a person to manage the acquisition of items for my collections - cars, firearms, fine art, model rockets, etc. What's $500 to a person like that if it meant that a pristine, NIB, piece was added to the collection?

I've always like the Estes Pershing but would never pay a high auction price.
Congrats to the collector. I figure I saved $450 dollars by buying the slightly shorter TLP version. http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.../TLP%20Pershing

Why buy a Pershing when you can buy a Sputnik?

It was relisted due to non-payment and actually sold for just under $300, which is about DOUBLE the max that someone should pay for a kit that is NOT RARE.
$300 For a Rare, BOXED (NOT bagged), Enerjet Athena, Enerjet Aero Dart, or Enerjet Nike-Smoke makes sense due to the very low production numbers and years of catalog availability. $300 for a mass-produced Pershing 1A Maxi Brute makes ZERO sense.

Those may be actual prices from the "Seated Dimes" website, but it does NOT make them any less IDIOTIC.
ANYONE that pays those prices for a non-rare PILE OF CARDBOARD, WOOD, and PLASTIC is a MORON regardless of income level or net worth. END OF STORY. BONA-FIDE MORON.
