Kind of a let down.
Nothing really interesting but the new Astron Sprint XL and continuation of the SkyDart II and the Pro Series II.
No new interesting engines (like bringing back the C5 or B8 series, B4-6, or a REAL high-thrust BP 24mm engine)

I will keep wishing for re-issuance of the 1/45 Little Joe II, Pershing 1A, 1/100 Saturn 1B or anything from the 29mm Enerjet line, and useful BP engines but am TIRED of waiting.

Honestly I thought SOME other manufacturer would have been bringing us new useful 18mm and 24mm niche BP motors by now but no luck there either. The other "big" company just makes 'me too' 18mm motors that nobody wants.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

If you went to the other Forum where the sane people discuss rocket stuff, you would see some interesting motors that just were tested at NAR S&T.

Not Vaporware at all.

Okay, who checks this stuff? I took a quick run thru it without giving it much scrutiny. But one glance at the CC Express listing on pages 62-63 and I see they only list the D12-0 booster and D12-7 sustainer.

It seems to me, if they're not going to list ALL the suitable motors, they are doing a disservice to us and themselves. If the motors aren't listed, then most folks - the 99% of the world who doesn't hang out on rocketry web forums - aren't gonna know about them. The end result is that the newly resurrected C11 motors will be discontinued yet again due to poor demand.

I can't help but wonder about the process they use to review these catalogs. Does anyone actually go thru them and check on these details?

Or is this a deliberate omission perhaps to dissuade users from wanting C11's because they plan to drop them again?

You'd think, since the rocket's name includes "CC", they'd list the available motors - for which it was named.

Doug

Can you please provide a link to this site. I know what Estes is working on since I've been flying the stuff for over a year now but I would love to know what other companies might be doing, as long as it in the G under motror catagory.

I read that thread... rather vague...

"Hey look at these cool new motors we've been testing... (standard pic of motor in a static test stand)

I can't tell you what they are, what they're for, or who makes them... can't even tell you if they were submitted for certification... just that they're cool... "

Ummm... Okay...

We had a word for girls who acted like that in the old days... TEASE!!! Same sort of thing for guys with "locker room talk" about their latest conquests, most of which was BS...

I'll believe it when I see it... the rest is just fluff...

GH is right about the "me too" mfg and their repeated pronouncements of "coming soon" neat stuff that turned out to be vaporware...

I'll believe it when I see it...

Later! OL JR

PS... thought Estes had a new controller coming?? Is that it, that 9V battery little thing??

That 9v controller is worse than the 4xAA thing.
They need to re-issue their last REAL controller, the ASTRON controller that used a 6 or 12v REAL sized lead-acid battery that delivered real current. With my Astron controller I can reliably light 4x18mm clusters using BARE nichrome for igniters !!!
Yeah, it's NOT idiot proof. Who ever said rocketry should involve those mechanically or intellectually deficient ?
