Verna

I thought “normal” was buying 3 of every kit — build one to fly, one to display, and a backup. OK, maybe a backup for the backup. Anything more was hoarding.

Well, maybe it is, but now I think Verna is on to something. Hoarding is not bad!

My collection of kits now seems so ... well ... inadequate.

I wish I could afford the space and cost to hoard.

I'm looking forward to the 1/200 Saturn V, think it's a great idea for folks that want to get in on the anniversary celebration, but don't want to tackle the 1/100 (though I will). It should be a good seller, I know I'll pick up at least a couple. It just may get a whole bunch of folks to try out the hobby.

I'm looking forward to the 1/200 Saturn also. I do hope you can fly it with the F-1 engines attached. That's the one good thing about the Dr. Zooch Saturn V.

This was posted today on the ESTES facebook page.

The secret is out, but we're over the moon 🌕 to formally announce the 1/200 scale Saturn V will be available in April 2019! Stay tuned for more updates about the release of this Apollo 11 commemorative kit 🚀

I will be building a K-36 (3 x 18mm cluster) for the occasion. I built the 2157 a few years ago.

AC Supply shows the LJ available in October and the Saturn V available in November. Guess we’re just expected to check the website periodically to see the actual availability date.

So was that all-black prototype Ellis showed flyable? i.e. was it printed the way it will be molded? I'm sure you asked!!
