A fellow in Europe bought a Pershing kit of some sort about a month ago for over $700.00 from an auction belonging to a member of TRF, so no - no record.

No, I was wondering if the $561 was a record for the Saturn 1b kit in particular. Earl

I'm pretty sure that $561 was a record price for that kit. Nice kit for sure, but I have the earlier Uprated 1-B with the outer box in great shape, all bags sealed, fantastic early checkerboards with the stylized spaceship centre, and the original shredded newspaper packing material all in mint condition. Didn't think it was worth that much.
Thought about piecing together the shredded scraps of the Denver Post to see what was going on out there back in 1967 or so, but haven't gotten around to it yet.......... Joe |

Another High Price
Here are a few more that just ended.....each kit looked to be mint and were all Estes kits, probably dating back to shortly after the Damon acquisition.
$315.96 for Astron Skyhook http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Est...73#ht_500wt_948 $388.33 for Astron Mark http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Est...ue#ht_500wt_948 $316.99 for Astron Birdie http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Est...ue#ht_500wt_948 That seller just racked up over $1000 for those three kits...... Hi Earl, No, I remember a 'Damon Era' Blue and White colored boxed, Sat 1b, opened, selling on ebay for over $700 back in the late 1990's. I watched this auction and was willing to go $275 - $300, then thought nah, I don't have the money to spend at the moment and like most of the items we see on ebay (on-line garage sale), it will be back up for auction in a year or two/five. Now the Uprated 1b has sold for $500.00 (me back in the 1990's). Dumb ... I will never get my $$$ back, but at least I have it. Is it worth $500 ... hell no, but I can completely understand if you have the DISPOSABLE $$$, and you want it, then buy it... at least the bags were sealed! I am just having so much fun seeing these kits fetch record auction prices ... hopefully I won't need medicare or social security in the next 25 - 30 years with the way these prices are inflating!
