Default Too good to pass up!

Yesterday the winds and clouds relented and the sky did what it's supposed to do: turn blue. So after a bunch of annoying Saturday chores were put to rest (ignored) I prepped to of my old favorites and headed over to a private field covered with newly sprouted wheat. My wife, son and his old buds gathered at our spot and we commenced firing.

First bird was a primer only scratch built job that I flew last weekend at DARS. Same motor, an Estes F15-6 . Perfect! Splendid! Text Book!

Then another old friend, The Porker. Two inch mailing tube with more layers of paint than a fake Picasso. Aerotech, G77R-10, total L.O.W. of 18.2 ounces. Again. Perfect! Splendid! Text book! And downright freaking Awesome! At least 3,000 feet, maybe more. Took almost three minutes to descend on a 24" chute while drifting a good half mile south on a 5 MPH wind.

Videos soon on YouTube. For now, a few pics.

Here's another pic showing my home made, 360 degree azimuth/90 degree zenith, full sky protractor, tilting launch rod holder contraption, rocket in place. Looks like I need to lay off the pizza and beer for awhile.

We had almost no wind here today with bright, sunny skies, but a field that was little more than a big nasty puddle. I gave it some thought, but in the end I decided against splashing around and did some painting instead. Glad someone got out and got some rocketry content on here.

Just go with wider rockets and bigger motors. They will make you look skinnier walking up to the pad.

If I don't get some of the blubber off, and soon, I won't be able to walk to the pad.
