Default Houston, We have a problem!

Houston, We have a problem!

Today is the day, 47 years ago when Apollo 13's mission changed from landing on the moon to one of survival.

Probably the most amazing feat of rescue we will see for centuries.
Simply amazing innovation to solve several nearly insurmountable problems.
Manned space exploration went downhill a bit since Apollo 13 and dropped off a cliff after Apollo 17 mostly due to perpetually dwindling funding. NASA funding should be IMMUNE from politics (and ANY oversight of timing/spending by those NOT in the SCIENTIFIC community) via Constitutional EDICT. I would trust a SCIENTIFIC bureaucrat 1000X over a political one.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Unfortunately, the 'crats who control NASA are political.

That's exactly why we need NASA funding immune from the politicians controlling Congress and the Oval Office via Constitutional edict.
Qualifications for holding positions of power within NASA should include at LEAST one of the following.
1) Test Pilot of Supersonic Aircraft.
2) At LEAST an M.S. in a "Hard" (Chemistry, Physics, Aeronautics, Engineering, etc) Science or a Medical Degree of M.D. or D.O. in lieu there of "Hard" Science.
3) NEVER have attended a Law School and achieved a J.D. and/or ever practiced as an Attorney or Lawyer. No formal education in Political so-called-"Science".

Even if the candidate(s) qualify under above said 1), 2), or both, any association with 3) above supercedes 1 and 2 and is immediate disqualification.

99.9% of all bureaucrats are worthless crooked butt-kissing glad-handing salary-sucking vortices 99.9% of the time. This is NOT meant to be a 'verboten discussion of politics' as it is aimed at ALL those in that supposed 'profession'.

This movie about Mission Control opened this weekend and is streaming on Amazon....I watched it and really enjoyed it. It focuses on Apollo 13 but covers the history from Mercury and Gemini. It is really cool seeing the guys that are still around talk about the missions and look back on the amazing work they did.

I'll be going to a nearby theater Alamo Drafthouse Cinema this afternoon to watch this movie.
