Default Vintage Estes Constellation built

My next build is the Estes Constellation, built straight from the bag. The parts are in great shape but this is one of those old kits that does not come with the decals shown on the face card. I will start cutting out the parts today and have her built by tomorrow.

I have one still "in-the-bag" too and hope to get around to building it. The one I had earlier in the 1970's was one of my favorite sport/demo model. You'll love it!

The build was straight forward, the little tear drops could be a little challenging but otherwise everything went together well. I brushed a couple coats of balsa sealer on and today I will prime and apply the white top coat.

What color should I go with? The 1969 picture I think the rocket is all red with a decal or the face card white black and red with decal....

I like the 1975 version; red nosecone, white body, and one black fin.

I have one in the 70-78 scheme and I know how you'd paint it if it had been in the 79 catalog.

Since it was pulled after 78, and I've never seen one in the 69 scheme, go with 69!

Thank you for your impute as you can see I decided to go with the header card color scheme. The next issue is the decals since this kit did not come with any. I will have to search my stash but I think I have a couple of the Shrike decals I bought off ebay, may take a few days to look. The problem with the 1969 color scheme is that I did not find any pictures of the actual color the rocket on the face card was painted with.
When I put the decals on I will post more pictures. Until then onto the next build, the Estes USS Atlantis......Stay tuned.

Beautiful!

Extra points for the treatment of the payload section. Foam disk, black strips to mask the balsa shoulders.
