How about doing a few wraps of 6 oz. fiberglass cloth on a BT-60? I used to do wraps of 3/4 oz. cloth to add negligible thickness, add a little strength, and fill seams. The 6 oz. weight should add enough thickness after 2-3 wraps.

Comrades:
Some more necro thread action! Very pleased to let you know that Rocketarium has made their 1.72 O.D./ 1.66 I.D. tubing available for purchase along with a coupler. Motor mounts can be constructed by using the coupler and standard BT-60 centering rings. Check it out on their website. And they have a 1/10 Black Brant V kit based on this tubing. With the additional tubing and couplers available, sport scale versions of later NASA Black Brant VIII - XII, boosted by a variety of American rockets and with Nihka upper stages can now be built. So while I build the Black Brant, I'll draw up gap-staged Sparrow- HV Arcas in 1/4.6 scale using this tubing for the Sparrow . . . .

Yes but.... buying from Rocketarium is easier. This is welcome news. As for rolling your own, for competition I do that. For regular model rocketry ..... meh....
