I'm with Wallyum....once you stick an engine in it and launch it, the nose cone issue will be a moot point.
(I actually can't say that since I still have a Mosquito that's logged 7 flights.) Mine uses the PNC-5V nose cone. Not a lot of difference from the old Mosquitos that used a balsa cone.

I once got a Mosquito back that I shoved a Centuri B4-3m in.
Other than that ONE, the ones recovered were flown on 1/4A3's

I've heard that some people are making the nosecone ejectable (with a kevlar shock cord), and having good results getting them back. I suspect though you'd need to add a thrust block to keep the motor from blowing through the body tube, and to give you your tether point. You'd also probably end up by needing to thin down the nosecone's shoulder to get everything to fit.
Their reasoning is that when the ejection event occurs, the rocket is near apogee, and it gets fired off in whatever direction the rocket was pointed in at the moment. With the nose popping off, it's less likely to go too far that way.

I have found that chances of recovering a Mosquito go up at least one magnitude by painting them neon/fluorescent orange 🍊.
Flying on one of those old brand Q micro-motors helps too.
