Unopened?
.....I dunno, it looks kind of "opened" to me.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/flying-mode...=item27cf20d923 But seriously, why do the Citation kits often get such high prices?

Have no idea on the Citation kits. They actually were massively over produced for 'toy' distributors. The only neat one of the lot was the "boost glider" version Bomarc. The Vega was so-so. The Quasar and Patriot are BORING 3FNC jobs.

Other than the price, this would be enough to scare me off.

GH, I have to differ with you on the Patriot. Yes, it's just a 3 fnc, but those decals, especially to a 13 year old, were what set it off.
It looked good going up and sitting on the shelf. It was one of my first clones (since my brother lost my original while I was in college). Now the Quasar I viewed, now as then, as just a chromed up Alpha III; hardly worth all that $. Besides, I already had a launch pad... Allen |

The Quasar and Patriot were the first two rockets I owned. Bought the same day.
Quasar flew same day as bought and Dad & I built, painted, and flew Patriot over the next two days back in 1977. I was 7 years old. Flew first R/C aircraft the same year. Been hooked on both ever since. Patriot is neat looking with the decals, but it still is just a 3FNC 18mm underpowered BT60 rocket.

Try this one!
It's all chrome! http://www.acsupplyco.com/estes/metalizer.ht It takes about 10 minutes to build.

The link needed an "M" at the end... I almost bought a Metalizer for my daughters last night, but they wanted the No. 2 Skywriter instead.

Agree with you on the Patriot. Sure it was a simple 3FNC but in the 70's those decals made it look like Evel Knievel compared to everybody else's Alphas and Berthas. However, the Quasar was my first rocket and is particularly beloved. You should see what they sell for now. This one started at 99 cents and ended at $300: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Est...=p2047675.l2557

People that pay that amount of $$$ for a small box containing a plastic nose/fin 3FNC rocket should be certified INSANE.
I would barely pay that for an Enerjet Athena.

Agreed, albeit this is an extreme case as most Quasars sell for somewhat less, it does show that there is a market out there of which I wish Estes or Semroc/eRockets would take advantage by offering a reissue. Certainly not for $300, but I would certainly buy a KC-1 reissue for $30.
