From my experience, it will spin and swing even with higher launches. Air hits the fins as it descends and spins the body. The faster the descent, the worse it is. We would like slow descents, but we also want our rockets and cameras back. A separate cradled (under canopy) payload section holding the camera will help some, but then you run a greater risk of losing the camera. Slowing the video down so that the gyrations don't seem so violent helps a lot, and it makes the flight seem to last longer also.

Missed that "recovery" part of Stefan's message.

You will think the ascent is short even on a C6-5 field. Descent might seem to take forever, though. In a perfect world, we would fly with D12-5's yet recover safely on a B6-4 sized field so that we could see cool stuff in the video. I would call it the "Field of Dreams". .

Here's my Semroc Vega (similar in size to a Big Bertha) on an Aerotech D10-7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4rZe9s8Kg4
The ascent still feels short, and there's lots of swinging back and forth on the 'chute. The videos I have the hardest time watching are the gum cam ones that look off to the side rather than up or down the rocket. Then the spinning gets one dizzy!

Hmmm.
A small enough camera could conceivably get tucked along the pod of a D or E rocket glider. Maybe TWO, front and back facing . . . |

Well, providing that I can find someone who stocks D12-3's, my camera might get taped to the cockpit area of the Mach 10D upscale I just finished. (Today was Sarah's 18th birthday, so I had to do the proud daddy thing, but tomorrow I plan to hit Hobby Lobby when I get up.)
