Default Paint scheme for 70's Big Bertha

Hi, All --

I'm trying to track down some accurate photos of the paint scheme of a 70's and early 80's era Big Bertha. I found some great ones here:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609560

But they're only from the front. How is the other side painted? Can someone help me out here?

Thanks!

Here's what I culled from several places, mostly ninfinger:

Between all these pics, you get about 300 degrees of the circumfrence. The big question is whether there's another long stripe opposite the black one. The 72 pic leads me to conclude there is not. The only other thing is whether the fin valley is white next to the white fin thus mirroring the black side. I can't say for sure, and I don't think anyone else can either. I left the valley yellow on my version.

(Edit: In fact, if you look closely at the 72 pic, as I shoulda done earlier you can see that the valley is indeed yellow next to the white fin.)

HTH.

Doug

SuperSabre is also a member of TRF (The Rocketry Forum). He has recently finished researching the paint scheme you are looking for. More photos of those rockets over there and he would be happy to PM you more shots if you need them.

Doug,

Is there any information about the earliest (66-68) color scheme, as to what the actual model was painted in?

(It pays to scan down to page three of your TRF message... Rear cover shot from the catalog says it all, doesn't it?)

Hi, Craig,

I probably wouldn't have thought to look on the back cover. Other than that, I really can't add much else. It might be fun to build a fleet of Berthas using all the different catalog schemes, though. I like the idea of doing Baby Berthas in the classic schemes, too, but I can dream up projects way faster than I can complete them For now, I'm inching my way thru a 3.2" diameter upscale Ranger in the yellow-black-white-red scheme. Hopefully, it will be done before 2007 is

Yeah, and maybe someone could call it PROJECT BERTHA!

I think I made it through three before something shiny distracted me.

Nice Paint Jobs!
Yes, it would be nice to post more pictures of the Big Bertha and Ranger rotating them every 90 degrees. Thanks!
