When I first read the article back in the day, that's what I thought it was. Larry Brown I believe was the designer of the X-24 Bug, so it would appear that maybe this is larger, possibly Enerjet powered version of it.

Maybe the article says...I can't recall.

Larry Brown did design the X-24 Bug -
Here's an email he sent me through my blog:

Chris-

Thanks for posting that from your blog...I've read a number of posts from you blog over the years, but missed that one. Very informative.

Nice of Larry to have touched base and provide some historical background on the development of the X-24. It would be fascinating to hear/read similar stories of the developmental background for many of the kits we have built over the years. I suspect there are very interesting stories (at least to us) behind many of them.

Thanks again.

Guys,

I know this sounds nuts, but I've seen the Super Bug or whatever it is somewhere else maybe as a drawing in an Enerjet News or something. I don't have those and I can't remember whose website has them. But I'd sure like to build an up sized lifting body just for fun. If Larry comes back around we should ask him about it.

I wonder if the NEW Estes 1/100 scale Saturn 1B will have vacuum formed wraps?

If so, I see some Orion/Athena clones in my future.

That would be really great. A Enerjet Athena clone is on my “future” list too. I still have a original PNC-231 saved for that one
