Default Winners Recap; Partial Box Contents

Here is a recap of the kit recipients from the first box of kits (the original shrinkwrapped box). I have received shipping address PMs from most of you already, but if you not yet done so go ahead and do that at your next opportunity. Those seven recipients are:

* Tau Zero
* tbzep
* Fyed
* stefanj
* Blackshire
* Sandman
* gpoehlein

And now for the 'partial' box contents. This is what was in the that box (images below). A bit of good news in that I did not recall the metal 'spec plate' decal set being in the partial box, but it was. However, I was right about the water slide decal set not being included (but as Sandman has stated, he's got you covered there).

So, what we have are FOUR full sets of parts for the Akela for the four message posters after MY last message and those four 'winners' are as follows:

* 5 x 7
* frognbuff
* BEC
* A Fish Named Walluym

What I have EXTRA from this box at this point is three addtional sets of die-cut fins (there were seven sets of fins in this box). That leaves three sets left over.

So....for anyone who would like a set of the fins (prior 'winners' not included) just be one fo the next THREE people to reply to this thread and PM me your address and I'll send you one of the three extra sets I have left. That will then distribute all the materials I have from the original shrink-wrapped box AND this partial box of Akela kits.

Below I've attached a PDF article, titled "Using the 4-H Name and Emblem" (it's accessible on the 4-H web site here: http://www.4-h.org/search/?q=emblem ). The article shows the preferred and accepted 4-H emblem & name forms (green-and-white, black-and-white, and black-outline-on-white-background), all of which would look great on model rockets of various colors. Now, there is some "scary-looking legal text" regarding usage of the 4-H emblem and name at the bottom of the article, but it looks similar to the Cub Scout and Boy Scout logo & colors copyright text that I've read; since these 4-H rocket decals would be *for* 4-H'ers (as your Akela decals are for scouts), I don't think it's a problem. In any event, the permission process described in the article is simple and straightforward. Now, regarding tbzep's "horse bowl" posting:

Here (see: http://www.4-hmall.org/Product/offi...lry/N-1234.aspx ) is an equine-themed 4-H jewelry item that would go perfectly with such events. Regarding Bill's speculation on the meaning of "bowl" in this context, I'm just glad it didn't refer to bowler hats--those are hot and rather uncomfortable for us, especially if the holes for our ears aren't cut out just right... :-)

Default Spec Plate Master?

Gordy-

Do you have a copy of the metallic 'spec plate' for the Akela? These metallic sheets can be somewhat difficult to get a decent 'reflective' scan from, but if you'd like, I can give it a try and forward the file to you.

Maybe you can't reproduce on the original metallic type paper (then again, maybe you can), but possibly you could do a waterslide equivalent with a sliver background.

Just let me know.

No I don't have them and yes, I could use that!

I can print them on silver Mylar peal and stick paper.

Your Akela decals are no more or less "illegal" than the 4-H decals would be, since the Scouts similarly "jealously guard" their logo and official colors.

Earl, for those to whom you will send the partial Akela-1 kit part sets, below is the list of Akela-1 parts (all of which Semroc www.semroc.com makes--I've included their Semroc part numbers, although the prices may be a little out of date). Also:

Sirius Rocketry makes resin duplicates of the Akela-1's 3" long PNC-76 plastic nose cone (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no...a/72cen060.html ). While the resin PNC-76 is not--and never has been, to my knowledge--listed on Sirius Rocketry's "Moldin' Oldies" nose cone page (see: http://www.siriusrocketry.biz/ishop...&cPath=11_26_35 ), they *do* make it, because I've bought two resin duplicate PNC-76s from them. Now, here is the Semroc Akela-1 parts list:

Body Tube 9" X 0.759" ST-790 $1.10 each
Thrust Ring 0.385" X 0.715" TB-7 $1.50 for 6
Nose Cone 3" long BC-730 $2.75 each
Nose Cone Weight
Screw Eye 1.375" long SE-14 $0.95 for 6
Fiber Fins FV-44 (Vector-V) $1.75 each
Launch Lug 1/8" X 2.25" LL-122 $0.90 for 6

I hope this information will be helpful.

Ok, let me see what I can do before I cut them up for the individual kits.
