Default 08/29/11 launches

Went out and got some launches in yesterday

Started with the Alpha III (I still had the nosecone and fins from when I was a kid and restored it with a new body tube from Semroc and decals I printed out myself lol)
Shot it up with an A8-3 to get an idea of which way the wind was blowing.

Here's where it landed. I think this is the closest to the pad I've ever had a rocket land

Next up was the Estes X-Wing on a C6-5

For some reason the delay was NOT 5 seconds. More like 15 I think. The chute finally popped about 20 feet from the ground, which totally swung the body around and snapped the shockcord. The nose cone floated down gently while the body slammed into the ground. I think it has officially retired itself from flight. LOL

I only used C6-3s in the X-Wing that I got back in 1978. It flew pretty well on that motor until the shock cord broke on one flight and the nose cone drifted away, never to be seen again.

Also shot up the Estes Astrobeam on a C6-5

A fin fell off when it landed but that's easily fixable.

After that we sent up Der Red Max and Big Bertha for one more C6-5 flight each but didn't take pictures
