I collect catalogs, and I do remember that. I wanted a 1966, since it was the first full color catalog. I figured I'd never get one, and this particular bidder was getting everything I wanted. I fianlly got one last year in excellent condition for around $20. The mystery bidder must have finally run out of money.

Wow! For an open box, rusty deflector and all....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT $500!!! Is this excessive? Someone wanted one REALLY bad. Sorry I wasn't the guy who sold it! Allen |

I got my Semi Scale Saturn V for 118.00 bucks, that does not seem too bad when compared to 350 and 288. I do agree, 400 bucks for a used rocket seems a tad bit too high, but then yet most people would think 118.00 dollars for a Saturn rocket is too much.

Silly man - it was over last Summer! The prices on collectible rockets has been boggling of late. Especially with some ebay collector's that go on a jag. Last September there was one buyer that snapped up anything that came up. I actually Googled the shipping address expecting to find some McMansion, but no, just an ordinary Joe with a passion.

The eventual buyer was the first bid at $10. So in this case you are spot on - for whatever reason competition trumped logic. Unless it was a box art buy.

Nah, this is a collector(s). Of the first four noted in the lead post the same buyer won the Vostok, Skydart, and Trident. They missed the Cobra by $2.50. Another bidder also won the Saturn V and the Sprite. Noteworthy is that the winner on the first three also just missed the Sprite and Saturn V. The winner of the Saturn V and the Sprite just missed the Skydart.
So two collectors were responsible for the purchase or price rise of five of these items. I just hope that Bruce gets his $900.
