I plan on using a circle punch (whale) from Hobby Lobby. It cuts a nice circle exactly 1 1/2 inch diameter. Wish it was 1 9/16 inch.

Keep us posted on how this works. Have you tried cutting sheet film with it yet? That stuff is t-u-tough.

Also, the film holder "holds" the film in place, at least if it is 1 9/16". Did you come up with a way to hold the smaller circle? It shouldn't move, since that'll bring it out of the proper focal plane.

Well, I have not tried it yet. I have modified a film holder to hold 1 1/2 inch film.

Can you post a photo of the circle punch?

It is not a WHALE brand but a Paper Shapers brand punch. You still buy them at Hobby Lobby.

Film is Ilford B&W FS5 400 speed.

Modified film carrier to accept 1 1/2 inch film.

Success!

After two failed CAMROC flights I finally achieved a success. It may not look like much to you but, to me, it is beautiful! It is of my front yard and shows the oak tree we planted and the tree line. Fortunately the rocket came down well away from the rocket eating trees. As you can see it was taken at a low altitude. I used a B6-6 in a CAMROC carrier booster. Film is Ilford FS5 400 speed sheet film. I modified the carrier to accept 1 ½ inch film. It is cut with a Hobby Lobby circle punch in a changing bag. I think I will fly it again on a B6-4 to get a horizon shot. Now that I know I have a good system I’ll do some experimenting.

Ted, that's a really nice photo! No blurring at all, so either your film was very fast or you had zero spin at the time the photo was taken. Great work! Looking forward to seeing the results of your attempt at an oblique shot.
