Default What is a 1/8A motor?

Total newbie question...
I've seen references to streamer duration contests listed as 1/8A. I've seen 1/2A and 1/4A, but what the heck is a 1/8A? Thanks!

Bill

Quest MicroMaxx is the only certified 1/8A motor.

http://www.nar.org/SandT/NARenglist.shtml

The second one on the list is the current production MicroMaxx with more total impulse and a spiral paper casing and real nozzle.

Here is the Quest website:

Here is the MicroMaxx yahoogroup (with one "x" since you cannot have more than one "x" on YahooGroups):

Check out the Quest MMX motors, I think they are rated as 1/8 A.

Thanks, glad I hadn't already started building something with a 13mm mount!

You'll probably want to check out FlisKits for a whole bunch of MMX stuff - he carries tubes, nose cones and all the other parts to scratch build models. He's also got several kits that are good for competition as well (Nanite and Tiddlywink particularly):

Micro Maxx is great for entertaining kids (and yourself) with launches in your own back yard. You can downscale many old designs (I recently built a mini WAC Corporal) that perform really well on these tiny motors. Flights to 200' or so are possible. Flis Kits carries a great range of tiny parts. You can also make some of your own parts.............I made the nose cone for the WAC Corporal by gluing a piece of 1/8 dowel (basically a barbecue skewer) into a small piece of balsa and turning it in my electric drill while sanding it with a ladies' nail file stick. Cool!
