Default Estes Pro Series II Majestic E2X

Pro Series and E2X Huh! I find a little humor in this, more like a Oxymoron.

I made a few mods to the kit so I thought I'd pass these along.

MOD #1 Added 1oz. clay nose weight

Mod #2 Use Apogee t-nut Rail Buttons I had to make a small half moon cut to the aft CR for clearance between
T-Nut and the CR http://www.apogeerockets.com/Buildi...Button_Standard

Mod #3 Added 750# braided Kevlar to Forward plastic CR( drill 1/8" hole, knot Kevlar and epoxy in cavity in
forward CR added glued loop to the other end from kit supplied 1/2" elastic.

Mod #4 Sanded all the chrome off the fin tabs. and used my Xacto saw to make cuts where the TTW fins would make
contact to the 29mm motor tube. checked fins for fit to the out side of the body tube sanded as
necessary for better fit.

Mod #5 Plastic Cr's Xacto saw used to make x cuts to CR for better holding power of epoxy.

Mod #6 29mm Plastic Threaded Retention Threaded piece used Xacto knife to make x cuts to better hold the epoxy.

Mod #7 Purchased, 1/8" quick link added a loop 7" down the from the Nose Cone.

First flight was 1/18 used a F16-6 BP long burn Nice flight to about 1,000' I used the streamer and that was well worth the price worked great. This bird will fly on E15-6, F16-6,8 and up to G80 SU .

I wonder if those mods might best be made in a Version 2.0 plastic mold?

I was wondering how you determined the model reached 2,000 feet?

I have flown the PSII E2X Ascender kit twice with Estes E16 motors and an Estes Altimeter in the payload bay and have recorded altitudes of 461' and 481'.

I plan to fly the Ascender with an Estes F15 motor and altimeter at the next launch I attend.

The package says 2000 feet, but I think it flies a bit lower on the F15-6 motor. But is definitely above 1000 feet. I await altimeter results. Make sure those vent holes are big enough and do not have fuzzy edges.

I just got bought a box full of F15-4 and F15-6 motors (with a few F15-8 and F15-0 and AT F32-6T motors thrown in to spread out the shipping fees). I still have 4 packs of E16-6 motors.

Word on the street is that the regional Hobby Lobby warehouse is out of F15-6 motors and their buyer has not placed an order for more at this time as they are doing inventory. Since I was not sure when they would re-stock (and the 'one pack a week' rationing is annoying) I did a big web order.

John,

I'm a little skeptical about that altitude as well. I flew my essentially stock Majestic twice yesterday on E16s - with an AltimeterTwo aboard. One flight read out just over 700 feet, the other just under 650. Since the F15s have just about half again the total impulse, I'd believe 1100 feet, but not 2000.

The ceiling in Redmond yesterday was too low to try it with an F or to try it with the PSII booster even E to E. But at least I now have some baseline data.

On the box we only list the Estes 29mm BP motors. In the instructions we list the 29mm composite motors as well. Maybe that's where the 2000 ft. comes into play.

You are correct. I don't know why I put that down as the flights altitude. Should have been 1,000'. I had a Estes Altimeter with me . Just trying to figure the best way to keep it attached to the shock cord.
