It was originally registered with Lycos. That's where it was registered when I purchased Excelsior.

Does anybody remember that old web site?

It was best forgotten.

Ok, Lycos actually just registered the name through MelbourneIT, so they've always been the ultimate registrar. Wow. I just looked at their site and their normal price for a .Com domain is $77 (assuming they're quoting Aussie dollars, it is about $60 US dollars, but still!)

If you want to keep the name, I'd bite the bullet and pay for it, then transfer it to GoDaddy so next time you'll only pay a max of $20 year (often a lot less).

Of course, since your base of customers is small, it might be better to just switch over to whatever you got from GoDaddy and just make sure everyone knows the new name. Then wait four or five months and see if you can get the old name back on the open market (I did that last year when I had to let a couple of names slide. I got them back a few months later at GoDaddy's normal $15 or so price).

Sorta what I did only GoDaddy has a deal.

For the new domain I only paid $1.17.

Let me see if we can get it to work first.
