Default Vintage Estes Challenger 1 build

This is a easy rocket from the 70's, should be a fun build. I will paint the body tube since it is yellowed and not paint the orange plastic. Sound Good?

You want to paint the body tube white!

My 30 year old Kadet has completely turned brown.

Leave the plastic parts as is.

Boy, I think my english is bad.

Let me rephrase.

I highly recommend that you paint your BT white!

The BT on my 30 year old Kadet has completely turned brown.

Put a gloss coat over the orange plastic parts though... It will make them look much better.

Wow, Had to wait for the rain to stop before painting the white. Real simple build, white gloss on tube and clear coat on plastic. This kit does bring back memories and since it was sealed, the decals were excellent. Even though it is an easy build, it was still fun. Its even fun to put the launcher together, I don't know if Estes still does this with their new launchers. I will use this launcher when I fly this bird. On to the next build.

I built a Kadet and a Challenger 2 about 22 years ago in the same HOUR.

The Challenger 2 is basically a D-powered giant version of the Challenger 1 and is a virtual clone of the Centuri Phoenix Bird. The cone is orange on the Challenger 2 and the fins are black.
The Kadet is a Challenger 1 with a shorter tube and black cone/fin unit.

So now I've gotta build one, using the SkyWriter fin can...

What's next? The Star Trek model? Did anyone ever post a copy of the yellow wrap?
