Default Ultraman Jet VTOL Rocket Project.

I remember watching Ultraman when I was very young and watching reruns in my teens. Japanese T.V. shows and movies were always being shown on the Boston UHF stations in the early 70's.
I came across this paper build today and I want to convert it into a rocket.
I like the way it looks.

This will be my next project after the Eastern Alliance Destroyer Brian is designing.

The paper site.

I never did get into Ultraman. But I didn't see any of the Japanese stuff until the mid 80's.

I started with Starblazers and then got into Robotech (of which I have all the DVDs).

Robotech? LOVE IT! Have you seen "Shadow Chronicles"? Did you know about the live-action movie in the works? I have the entire Robotech series on DVD, as well some of the Macross series (Plus, Seven, Zero, Frontier), and the old art book from the 1980's.

Have you ever seen Armored Trooper: Votoms? Made just prior to Marcoss/Robotech. One of my all time favorites.

As it turns out I am also a HUGE fan of Kaiju (Suit-mation), and grabbed the first season of Ultraman at Target for 5 USD! Love the Godzilla cameo

For me it was Ultraman, Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets.

Yeah, I have "Shadow Chronicles". Couldn't get into the others though.

Default Early Anime

My first exposure to anime was "Marine Boy", and "Astro Boy", which I had confused in my head for decades! "Star Blazers" and "Battle of the Planets" came along later...

Now, "Stingray", "Thunderbirds", "Fireball XL-5" --- THOSE I can still watch for hours!

A really good American anime series is Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender. I watched it with my daughter who was 6 at the time. It is done very well and adults will enjoy it. Don't bother with the live film version by M. Night Shyamalan...that movie was terrible.

That papercraft ship is beautiful.

Speed Racer was around when I was a kid. Most of the Japanese cartoons I watched as a tot are less well known now: Astro Boy, Eighth Man, Aqua Boy (?). (Oh, I see Dean has seen those. Marine Boy, not Aqua Boy. D'oh!)

I'm watching Avatar: The Last Airbender for the first time now, and it is wonderful. It doesn't have the weird / creepy stuff that turns me off of a lot of later anime.

Marine Boy was the first for me. Must have been around 1965 because it was on early in the AM and I'd get out of bed and eat Honeycombs while I watched it and my Mom slept in a little. I don't remember it being on after my brother was born. I don't remember Mom getting to sleep in anymore either.
