Naram-54
My bags are packed.
My airline, rental car and hotel reservations are confirmed. My rockets have been safely shipped and received. I've pre-order rocket motors. I will see all you NARAM-54 participants Friday!

The first day of NARAM-54 saw pretty good weather.
Field is interesting but no problem handling HPR rockets. I flew my Initiator (Natch) and my new Estes Ventris kit. The Ventris flew on an AeroTech F50-6T motor with an Altimeter Two unit. The Ventris reached a max altitude of 1,165 feet at a velocity of 224 MPH. All my rockets were recovered fine.

Several vendors were displaying new products on the field.
Semroc was showing the Midget and USS America kits. The Omega and Starfire were present, also. Red River Rocketry had three new kits for NARAM. Jim Flis had several new kit ideas on display.

Mike Fritz of Estes was present handing out free bottles of water and showing off current and future Estes products.
It looks like the Gonneybirds are back but Mike doesn't want that title used with the kits. The big Mega Red Max was on display. Mike said he just finished putting the decals on the night before. There were some more 'futuristic' kits displayed that I have not seen or heard of yet.

The rockets shown in the thrid picture look phenomenal. I have not seen any of them in the
online Estes catalog or in any hobby shops in town. I noticed they were Skill Level 4,5. I'm not really able to tell from the packaging, but I assume they fly on E or higher motors? |

The one in the middle (the one on which you cannot see the name) says D&E engines on the package. The other two do not, so I'd speculate they're for 18mm motors....but that's all it is - speculation.

I just came from the turn-in for sport scle and classic model.
The classic model entries outnumber the sport scale entries. A wide variety of classic kits were modeled. Friday is flight day for this event and it's going to be cool. Sorry, haven't had time to process my pictures. I will post them when I can or maybe Chris Taylor will have coverage on his Naram Live website.

The one on the left in the first picture, the Estes Jetliner, is already in some hobby shops. I picked one up at Schaefer in St Louis on the way up to Muskegon. These are not in the 2012 catalog. John Boren told us about the big Red Max and the middle kit in the third picture at NARCON over some beer. The two kits in the fourth picture are already in some hobby shops too. The Fletcher is in the catalog; the STM-012 is not. Am I the only one who thinks the faucet handle in the NARAM hotel looks like the tip of the fin of the Solar Warrior? Bill
