New Book - Apollo To The Moon
A new book was just released - "Apollo To The Moon - A History in 50 Objects". It's kind of a cross between a coffee table book and a historical book. Written by a curator from the Smithsonian Air & Space museum, it tells the history of the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo missions through objects on display at the museum. It's about 300 pages, half of those full or partial page photos.
The last few pages have good reproductions of all Apollo patches in sticker form, with details about each - but I can't imagine anyone wanting to peel the stickers out of the book. I'm only part way through the book - while much of it is stuff any of us here would know, there are details I haven't read about, and (some of) the photos are pretty cool. The back cover has a cheezy quote from Buzz Aldrin: "I was there - and you can be too, in this unique book of pictures and stories about the Apollo missions." It priced $35 - though my B&N membership saved quite a bit with the normal 10% off + 20% coupon. Well worth the cost for a space geek, IMHO.
