If the wraps are a little off, go with the previous advice and laminate with a wrap or two of paper. Good paper will keep you from needing to fill spirals and will make finishing that portion easy. All you will need to work on is a few inches of the seam.

The coupler tube at the separation point will probably need some attention (it will need to slide easily inside the upper part of the BT-80). Sanding the rings down some will be pretty straightforward, but sanding the coupler tube itself while maintaining its structural integrity will be a bit more of a challenge. While getting the BT-80 tube, you might want to go ahead and get a BT-80 coupler to experiment with. Might be easier to go that route. In any event, just need to ensure a smooth matchup of the final outside diameter of the BT-80 of the lower section where it will match up to the base of the Spacecraft/Lunar module Adapter (SLA as it was often referenced) of the upper section. Excellent craftsmanship. You obviously have some serious modeling skills. Would like to know how the 1/100 Sat. V turns out. If you could post some pics when you're done, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it. |

In your build, you mention trying Tamiya masking tape. I too love the Tamiya tape. Great clean lines every time I’ve used it. Last year I bought a can of Tamiya Surface Primer to try out. It’s a great primer to use on plastic since it has no fillers in it to dull any details on parts. It provides a protective coat on plastic when using lacquers, too, to prevent crazing. Comes in white and light gray.
