Default See Also AC Supply

Several weeks back or so AC Supply had them listed for around $47 (edit: just checked and it's $47.99 to be exact and still in effect).

Seems a couple folks posted that possibly the kit has not sold in quite the numbers that maybe Estes had hoped and that there is some level of 'backlog' in the supply channel.

Good chance however to pick up one or two for the build pile.

If the Saturn V was released in 2009, the fortieth anniversary of Apollo 11, instead of 2010, it probably would have sold faster. I still have both of mine from the 1999 release. The Saturn V requires really good building skills to finish properly.

I don't think I could wrap my head around a build like that...not right now anyways.

If I could and had the money I would build the one from APOGEE...but that would be years down the road...maybe a few yrs.

Hobbylinc.com has all of their AT kits on sale, and possibly others besides. Looks like a good time to stock up.

Those prices sound REASONABLE AND REALISTIC.

Difficulty/Skill to finish a Saturn V is really relative.
ANYONE that has built several Rib-and-Spar Wing/build the fuse and tail R/C aircraft will find most rocketry projects including up to L2 High Power (other than competitive Scale) to be far easier, including building a Saturn V or 1B in box-stock condition.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

I tend to agree....timing could have been better on the release.

At the same time, while some of us 'Olde Rocketeers' remember the Saturn V and it's days fondly, many younger modelers possibly don't identify with it so strongly. When Estes came out with the 30th anniversary kit in '99 (really, the first re-release of the original Centuri kit since Centuri had gone out of business in '83) I bought a number of them because I loved my original Centuri kit that I bought and built when I was in college and had remembered fondly my childhood days of drooling over it in the Centuri catalog.

But probably younger modelers don't have that same nostalgic connection with the real Saturn or the kit(s), so it may be inevitable that some of these 'grand' kits will not garner the interest they once did.

If slow sales are the reason the price has dropped, I hope that does not put any heavy damper on Estes' plans to possibly release additional classic Centuri and Estes kits.

That's why you buy one now so you can do it later when you think you can (or maybe two so you can practice on one). Later, when they aren't around anymore, you're going to wish you bought one.

Don't know if reported elsewhere, but Estes has reduced the price to $79.99 on their web site.

I'll probably be wishing I bought ten of them!
