Default Narcon 2006

I'm posting this here since you can learn some model rocket history at NARCON 2006.

It's now official and I can let the cat out of the bag.

WOOSH will host NARCON for the third year in a row. For 2006 those dates will be March 10-12. It'll be held at the same location, UW-Parkside in Kenosha, WI.

Now for the big announcement. We are proud to have two great keynote speakers this year. On Friday March 10th, Leroy Piester, who started Centuri Engineering Corporation and ran it till it was sold to Damon Corporation, will be our keynote speaker. On Saturday March 11th, Matt Steele, who started and ran North Coast Rocketry until it was sold to Estes (I "think" Damon still owned them at that time), will be our keynote speaker.

So, now's the time for everyone to mark their calendars. You won't want to miss this event! The cost for the hotel this next year (same one) will be $77/night. You can get some info about the location and hotel by going to the NARCON 2005 site at http://www.narcon2005.org. It'll be awhile before the 2006 site goes online.

I wish NARCON, NARAM, etc. would once in a blue moon meet in the summer time. I am a school teacher and they frown on us taking a week off during school. Please, just once have a national meet during the summer months!

You'd only have to take a Friday off for NARCON. (Cough, cough.) I think you're feeling sick already.

I've driven to Wisconsin before. It's a loooooooong way up there. I'd need to take a day or two off before and after NARCON. Besides, I'm the high school softball coach and I can't take off during the season...sick or not.

Tim,

NARAM is held in the summer every year, as far as I know. In fact, and I quote directly from the NARAM 47 website at http://www.naram.org/index.html, "NARAM 47 will be held from July 30 - August 5 2005. " Location is Cincinnati, Ohio.

Our inservice starts August 1. Cincinnati is probably the closest it will ever be to me, but even if I went for the weekend, I'd spend most of the time on the road instead of at the event.

YESSSSS!!! (I can stop keeping this a secret now.)

My wife and I will make plans to be at NARCON 2006, so hopefully I'll get to meet a bunch of you face to face!

Cheers,

--Jay

THE SCENE: Jay's house, post-NARCON (Cue music - Animal House theme)
Centuri Gal heads into the house from the plane and begins furiously paging through the Yellow Pages.
Jay: "What are you looking for, dearest?"
Centuri Gal pauses in her search and, eyes ablaze, fixes Jay with a stare that causes the house plants to instantaneoulsly wilt and wither. Jay notices that she has stopped on a page marked "Marriage Counselors". This is when she utters her first words since landing in Wisconsin.
"You actually paid MONEY to hang around with those kind of people? One guy BELCHED THE ALPHABET FOR ME, then looked at me like he expected APPLAUSE! Another one handed me a beer that smelled like it had been aged UNDER a pig slop! And what's a 'White Castle'?"
