Default Anybody recognize this?

Saw this art print on Ebay.................

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The craft is from the 1950 movie 'Destination Moon'. Vern Estes was a 20-year old back then, and I can't help wondering if it was the inspiration for the original Estes logo and artwork on the 261 catalog...................

SEMROC offers a kit based on that catalog illustration. The model is the VF-261. My understanding that VF stands for "Vern's Fantasy" and 261 is the catalog number. I built and flew one. Put it in the top of a tree. It has a balsa nose cone and tail cone. Good thing I bought two...

I bought one the day it was released, built it in the hotel room that night, primed it in the hotel bathroom the next morning, painted it at the field and flew it later in the afternoon. Still got the silver paint on my Wayfarers. http://www.rocketreviews.com/semroc...chelberger.html
