Farside,

Have you gone through the Semroc nose cones at eRockets? I have no idea what size the Apache tube is, but Randy has most of the nose cones Carl designed plus some of the customs Carl did for other builders.

Figure out what size tube it is and then go to that section and maybe you can find it or something close enough to rework a little.

As a side note, Carl made nose cones for most of the Nike- sounding rockets including Cajon, Apache, Deacon, Asp and Tomahawk in 1/10 scale. Randy has them in-stock. My winter project is going to be the Deacon/Cajun/Apache series whiich all have different Nike fins and paint-jobs. Or at least that is what Rockets of the World would have me believe . . . .

I think it's a 1.06" diameter tube for the Apache part of that kit.

ST10 is 1.04", and here is a cone that sorta matches - http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-bals...10-4-1-conical/

It has the 3:1 ish cone on top of a cylinder section, so would probably work.

I checked too, and came up with this one:

http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-bals...e-10-5-6-ogive/

It's the right length but would need to be sanded to a conical shape. An alternative would be have BMS or Sandman make you a custom 1.5" ST-10 to BT-58 adapter and build the 9" payload section seen on later Nike-Apaches. You'd need the custom transition, 8" of BT-58 and a 3:1 ogive like this:

http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-bals...t-58-4-6-ogive/

You'd have to cut off the top six inches of your present Apache body and add the new payload section, but it'd be one-of-a-kind. You'll also need add the nose weight to the new section.

Just a thought.

Gordy (Sandman) has some wood turning time on his hands now that his Alps printer is down and out for the count.
