New drawing by Peter Alway.

A truly spectacular model of this flew at last summer's World Spacemodeling Championships in the Ukraine.

Thanks (with mixed emotions) for posting the links to the photos. It is very much like watching one of the old casinos in Las Vegas being imploded. Sad.

Just a clarification.

One of the two 18mm motor making machines was NOT sold/given/etc. to Quest.

When FSI got ahold of the motor making machines they did not have any instructions.
It was decided to try to get one of the 18mm machiness working but FSI did not know what air pressure(s) at which to run the machine. The result was the machine blew itself apart and was financially beyond repair.

Enter Bill Stine. Bill had one of the operations manuals for these machines (Thanks to G. Harry having one in his collection). Bill made a deal with the FSI owners. He would provide the manual and come out to FSI to get the remaining 18mm motor machine working in exchange for FSI making motors for Quest.

This was accepted and the MPC motor machine was back in action, making motors for both FSI and Quest.

Reviving an OLD thread.

Does anyone know what happened to the FSI equipment and materials after Dave Bucher passed away?

Scott,

Dave Bucher, as you know, passed away in November, 2016.

I found his obituary . . . His wife's name was "Lisa" . . . They were living in Raytown, Missouri, at the time.

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituarie...y?pid=182629371

There are THREE "possibilities" of contacting her . . .

https://www.whitepages.com/name/Lis...n=Raytown,%20MO

If Lisa can be located and contacted, she may be able to "shed some light" on the "fate" of the FSI items.

Also, a check of Dave's Facebook site shows that it still exists. Perhaps, examining his Friends list might generate more info, too. ( I do not do Facebook or any other "social media" ) .

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...84552554&type=1

I think that Dave Bucher's business partner is a guy named "Dave Lucas" ( no further info ).

"Blake Goddard" appears to be the 3rd investor and IT person for the company . . . ( former President of KCAR, in KS ) . . . Dave Lucas was / is also a Member of KCAR.

KCAR may no longer exist . . .

Since the crew never disclosed to the supplier that these hobby grade motors would be used in human-bearing contraptions and JK almost took an H400 in the ass, why don't you apply your razor-sharp lunatic logic here and explain how that is "no foul"? Oh I get it - no harm happened so, heck, it's okay right? Of course!

I will repeat.
No Harm=NO Foul in my book.

I would be shocked if we EVER see anything new from FSI.

I recall someone posting the story, somewhere... Maybe it was Dave posting on FB. I remember a description of the supplies and equipment being stored in a very poor manner. After decades, the end result was a description of rot, rust, and ruin. Nothing much was usable. The motor making machine was a rusty hulk.

Wish I had a link, but if it was on FB then there is no link anymore. FB is the place where our stories go to die and be forgotten.

Threads with more permanence. The old MPC machines, both of them, AVI Astroport, Quest, FSI... long story. I can find tidbits here and there, but mostly over there...
