Looks like WAAAAYYYYY more work to restore that S1B than just opening the wallet and paying ~$100-125 for an Estes re-issue NIB off ebay and just building new. At least I'd rather start with something pristine and build it MY way than trying to restore a POS some hack assembled into a HASHIMOTO MESS !

As far as that interceptor goes, the best thing for it would be to launch on an Aerotech 18mm D10W with the ejection charge removed.

I don't mind rebuilding so the opportunity to pick up a 1/100 Saturn 1b for $25 when I could spend ten times that on an unbuilt kit seemed like a good gamble.

Is it rebuildable? Yes -- absolutely! I'm gonna need some new decals and some BT-52 plus some time. I have already carefully removed the BT-80 from the lower body and pried the capsule (and its lead weight) off. It will not be easy but unless something unforseen happens, this will fly again . . . but only after I finish building the R-7s for April.

I may put a rebuild thread in the scale section.

Kudos to you, Mark! Hope to see photos of the restoration when you have time to get to it.

Good for you , i like ReHab work , i have gotten several "Partially built" scale models from Ebay , and 1-2 of them have actually won model shows .
on another note , I have an honest john maxi missing the nose . Someone built it and used wood fins , so I hould either send you the tail or you should send me the nose

Yes good luck with the rebuild Mark! It sounds very interesting. If you get a chance please post some progress updates.

I really like doing rebuilds myself. I find it very satisfying to fix something that someone else might have given up as a lost cause.

Sounds like fun to me. I've resurrected a couple that most people would have trashed. Make sure you get a few photos of your work to post with the rebuild thread.

Guys,

I put a rebuild thread in the Scale section.

For JamJammer - used a TLP Lance kit to make a new M-50 Booster for my Honest John nose. I never finished it. Maybe I'll move it back up the queue.
