The Thunderhawk was produced from 1989 to 1996, so if you have one of those Estes catalogs you can take a look at it. From the 1993 catalog...................
'Long, lean sport flier featuring super stable five fin configuration. Simple to construct and finish, and delivers impressive performance.' Length 22" Diameter 0.976" Weight 1.22 oz. Engines: A8-3 (First Flight), B4-4, B6-4, C6-5 |

Estes Thunderhawk
Thanks for the info, I was just on JimZ's site and found the plans. Your info was good because the plans do not give the dimensions. Thanks again.

Sure it does. You just have to learn where to look. Right click on the last plan page that shows the caliper, ruler and compass. Click on "Save target as" and download that page. It comes out as a "note pad" page with all the dimensions and the parts list. *** Thunderhawk Parts List *** Item Part Qty Measurements ------------------- ------- --- ------------- Body Tube BT-50 1 18 1/8" Engine Tube Mount BT-20 1 2 3/4" Adapter Ring AR-2050 1 1 1/8" Die Cut Fins 1 9" x 3" x 1/8" Nose Cone PNC-50 1 4 1/8" Nose Cone Insert 1 Parachute 1 12" Tape Rings 6 Engine Hook 1 standard engine size Shock Cord 1 17 1/2" x 1/8" Shroud Lines 1 72" Launch Lug 1 1/8" x 2 3/8" Decals PN 37330-1 1

NOTE that the Estes Thunderhawk came out in two different decor schemes.
the earlier release was yellow and white with large ' THUNDERHAWK " logo-lettering. later release was , iirc, all white and had ' pseudo military' decor. the EARLY release decal for this kit is one NOT posted online... so if you happen to get that version, PLEASE scan the decal and send to Scott ( and the forum here ) for posting. ~ AL |

I should be receiving the rocket in a few days. I'll check which version and let you know. Thanks for the info on JimZ's site, it worked great. I'm learning new things everyday. Thanks.

Just send it to Scott, he keeps things like that. Enclose some money with the decal and you'll make him really happy. Just kidding! What he means is to email a scan of the decal to the owner of this board (Scott or "ltvscout". He will then post the scan on the old rockets plan site: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/ |

And it needs to be 300 dpi jpeg..... Unless it's black and white, then a 300dpi tif should do?
