Default Night launching

I got the FRW Beacon primed, filled, sanded and reprimed today with a suitably dark primer, so I decided to sneak up to B6-4 Field before work to get in a couple of night flights to see how visible the red Night Bobby is. Well, it's quite a bit more visible than the yellow one, and I have no idea why. Same batteries. Same shape.
First flight of the night was on an A8-3. I set the pad up on the baseball field at shortstop because the breeze was blowing east to west. I was getting things set up and a kid on the hill started the countdown for me. I told him to give me a minute and when the time came he handled that detail for me. The Beacon followed almost the exact same flight path as the Night Stalker last week; lots of cool flame, a quick burnout, and a recovery about 100' away. (In the hole between 1st and 2nd.)
The second flight, which was going to be the last anyway, was on a B6-4. I was hoping for the same kind of flight as the first, albeit higher. Not the way it happened. I got the added altitude that I expected, but I also got a breeze that picked up after ejection. I thought I was goint to thread the needle and land in one of the back yards on Grant Street, but it wasn't really close in the end. The Beacon is 60 feet up in one of my least favorite trees, joining the Patriot, the cheesy foam Tangent, Solar Sailer, and Amazon. At least I'll get to see what kind of battery life the Night Bobby has when I go home in the morning. Got video, but I didn't have enough time to do more than download it tonight before work. Maybe tomorrow.

Personally, I love night launches. It's amazing what some people come up with and how they choose to illuminate new and old rockets. Makes for some pretty cool photos too!
