Default Estes #1849 Interactive Rocketry Set

Anybody have one of these sets in their collection or seen one for sale lately? I bought this one on Ebay a number of years ago and have never seen another one since. Just wondering whether it was a low volume item. This contains

A Snapshot Camera payload
An Altitude Capsule
A finished rocket
A roll of Kodak 110 color film 24 exposures
An Electron Beam launch controller
A Porta Pad II launch pad
4 Estes engines with igniters and plugs
Recovery wadding
Instructions, NAR safety code

That's an amazingly complicated product to manufacture for the price and amazingly capable for its time. A truly impressive product.

I've seen the smaller sets, like this one currently on Ebay, with a reasonable frequency............

Estes had a similar rocket with a payload which counted how many times the rocket rolled during its flight. I never found out how it worked, but am guessing it either had a magnetic field sensor or a photodetector and counted peaks in light intensity.

It may be fun to get several of those and have a contest - lowest number of rolls wins.

I have a few of these. I bought mine from Wal Mart, and I never saw them available anywhere else. I dug one out and it had a price tag of 24.99. I thought it was a cool idea to have interchangeable payloads, and at that price it was a great deal. I don't remember them being available very long. They appeared soon before Wal Mart "purged" the hobby isle.
