Default A Son rebuilding from past

Hi guys, I have been off and on with the hobby for years. My dad got me started as a young kid in 77. He was talking to me about that a few days ago. He mentioned how much he liked that. Which got me to thinking, how about I rebuild those first three models he and I put together and put them up in the air. I know he would get a kick out of that. Saddly the two are out of production.

1 the Red Max I have gotten.
2. The Estes Andromeda I can't find anywhere.
3. The Estes Blue Bird Zero. I can't find either.

Can anyone ease help me find these two models?

Welcome to our forum! I'm sure you'll find quite a number of helpful answers.

The short, short version: both of the remaining models you are searching for are out of production, as you stated. Both kits do, periodically, appear on eBay for auction. Keep an eye out there.

SEMROC, now a part of eRockets.com, produced a "clone" kit of the Blue Bird Zero a few years ago. Copies of that still surface from time to time. It's possible that eRockets will make another run of them --- you might reach ou to them on their website and see what they have to say.

The Andromeda is one of the most sought-after kits from the Estes "Golden Age". You can find the plans by visiting the JimZ rocket plans site at this link: http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/est1273.htm Using the parts list in the plans, as well as the provided shrouds and fin patterns, you should be able to clone yourself a copy of the rocket (most, if not all, of the parts can be obtained from online vendors such as eRockets.com or Balsa Machining Services (balsamachining.com).

I'm sure others will chime in with more info. Good luck in your kit search or cloning efforts!

I can do decals for the Andromeda and the Blue Bird Zero.

You probably have decals with the Red Max.

I have the white nose cone decals for the Red Max.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm really liking all.the information here and some of the darn funny posts about as well.
I didn't know that the Andromeda was that big of deal. I did see in one of the post that a repro of the Blue Bird Zero was made a while back. I will have to try and part them together. If I can find the kits all the better. Thank you for the help. I got a bad feeling I will spending alot of money nkw, due to all the cool stuff I'm learning on here.

sandman,

Are you doing decals by request? I had read about your issues with printers, and I looked at your website the other day and only saw the BBZ in BT-20 size. if you can make other sizes, that is definitely encouraging!
