The early 70's Banshee and the much later Gnome are the same kit with different finish and decals.
The X-15 would be much more difficult, but they produced that one forever by the thousands and sold through toy stores like Circus World, K-B Toys, Toys-R-Us, etc.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

The only Gnome I can think of is the BT-5 minimum diameter kit introduced in 1988 and still available today. The Banshee was 1" in dameter and probably solid plastic like the Vampire/Jinx. Was there another Gnome I'm forgetting about?

Must be thinking of another rocket then besides the Gnome.
Something was produced by Estes in the 90's that was equivalent to the Banshee...will post if I find it, but definitely was not the Gnome after looking at that kit.

The original had stick on decals. I used images in AcroRay's thread as a basis to make my own body tube decal and I used his fin decal file with a slight change in the red color to suit my taste. I printed the decals on Avery full sheet label paper. I sprayed Krylon Crystal Clear UV on them to protect from moisture.

Nice! I had the same thing in mind a while back after losing an original Vampire in an Ebay auction. I then proceeded to lose Jinx after Jinx.
I think I was jinxed.

It looks great! Nice job!

I bet an upscale clone would look pretty good too.

Nice to be home. I got on here to look around on Sunday night and found an entertaining thread about an icky vendor. I realized that I had one of his kits sitting half-finished in a shoebox in the trunk of my car, so I pulled it out and found everything as I'd left it. (Although my glue seems to have undergone some kind of transformation. Apparently it doesn't freeze well.) One thing led to another and I realized that I missed flying, so I've decided to take my niece and nephew up to B6-4 Field and introduce them to some small field thrills this weekend. (Weather permitting, that is. ) It'd be nice to file a launch report again.

I've been thinking about it.

I'm just not sure how cool it would look without a scaled up Firing Line launch pad, though.

The launch pad does look pretty cool, but I bet one big Vampire w/o the pad would still represent pretty well.
