Default I've got a BIG case of the Goony's

I'm on vacation this week, so today I set aside some time to do some work on several rocketry projects that I want to take to NARAM with me. First was the upscale Zoom Broom that I had actually hoped to fly last weekend before I got sick. I started this project a long time ago and cut out a beautiful set of basswood fins, but then we moved and I LOST THEM! I cut out a new balsa set last week at work one night, but they weren't nearly as nice. Then last night I got a wild hair and started looking for the large piece of Perma-Wadding that I also LOST WHILE MOVING and during the search I found my basswood Zoom Broom fins.

This one could fly tomorrow, but the weather is supposed to blow chunks around here. (I'm on vacation. What did you expect?) Looks like NARAM will be the break in for this one and at least one other.

Did I mention that I plan to call this one the Sonic Boom Zoom Broom?
It's the last of its kind, as you can see from this photo.

L to R: Gargantuan Galaxy Guppy, Mega Missile Toe, Mambo Cloudhopper, Super Sky Shriek, Sonic Boom Zoom Broom and Super Star Snoop. The Guppy, Sky Shriek and Zoom Broom are all E-powered. The Cloudhopper and Missile Toe are C-D powered, and the original 2001 Star Snoop is 18mm. (That may get a new body with an E mount before NARAM.) The Star Snoop has 30+ flights, the Cloudhopper has one, (which is why it's getting a makeover as you can see in the picture,) the Sky Shriek has three or four, the Missile Toe has one and the Guppy and Zoom Broom have yet to fly.
Oh, yeah. I have decals all printed up for the lot. STICKER decals. (How's that for authentic? )

Very nice, Bill.

I look forward to seeing your Goony collection fly at NARAM.

Looking good Bill! I love those Goonys! I've had the parts to do the BT-80 ones for some time now all I need it to finish some of my other odds and ends, mostly painting.

FWIW, I just got done redrawing all the Goonybird fins in Illustrator, and I made PDF files and sent them to Scott for posting on his site. I also sent them to Carl as CorelDraw files which he can use to cut fins on his laser cutter.

Since it is vector artwork it can easily be scaled to any arbitrary size. Of course, if you want Carl to cut you some fins then "arbitrary" has its limits :-)

Since Scott hasn't posted the files yet, email me if anyone wants them. I can also size them if you give me the scale factor.
