ReactionMotors, Inc Dedication
Reaction Motors, Inc was America's first commercial rocket enginecompany. They started in Pompton Lakes NJ on December 18,1941.
Today is their 57 anniversary of the dedication on their headquartes that were located at 90-100 Ford Road in Denville NJ on Oct 7,1955, 200,000 sq feet on 50 acres costing $4,000,000 Next Sunday Oct 14th, will be the 65th anniversary of the Charles "Chuck" Yeager , breaking the sound barrier flight in his Bell X-1. The powerplant was the Reaction Motors, Inc XLR-11 6,000 lb thrust motor, designed, built and tested and shipped from their Pompton Plains NJ facility. Six of these motors were built between 1943 and 1946 and shipped to Bell Aircraft in Buffalo NY Many more of these motos were built in the years to follow. |
