Default Finished projects

Finished since this weekend:

Der Fat Max. Body by Estes. Decals by Excelsior.

Estes Sentinel clone. This one has been around for a LONG time. 2005, I believe. Decals by Excelsior.

Estes Defender clone. Also a long timer, predating even the Sentinel. Decals by Excelsior.

Centuri Python Fighter clone. Had the cone for years, but the bulk of construction happened last summer. I screwed up the decals, but I think I recovered well enough. Decals by Excelsior.

Thanks. Now I have an excuse to fly. Too bad this weekend looks like a turd in the punch bowl, weather-wise.

Cool...

Think the "FAT Max" would have looked better as "Der GROSS Max"...

Later! OL JR

One of my favorites. I have one that's an Ebay refugee. Looks like it was built by a kid, but he did a pretty decent job. I've even flown it a couple of times after changing out the shock cord.

This one came about from two sources. Two different Estes lots on Ebay brought me the decal and the nose cone, about ten years apart. When I tried to apply the vintage decal, it fell to pieces, but the nose cone hung in there. I printed off a set of my own decals. Not quite as good, but good enough for a scrap-heap bird.
Hopefully this flies sometime this week at B6-4 Field. Likely on an A8-3, but it's the spirit of the thing that counts. And it IS set up to spin.

Had a near tragedy while finishing this up tonight. It was finished except for the thrust ring, so I tied a piece of Kevlar onto a ring, spread some white glue around the inside of the tube, and used an expended engine casing to push the ring into place.
It caught.
I looked around the shop for something to pull it out with, but found nothing. I hopped up, sprinted upstairs and ran outside to my car where I knew I had a multi tool.
In my underwear.
It rained last night, so the ground was still soaked, as were my socks. I sat down in the driver's seat, pulled out the tool and tried to remove the engine casing. No luck. I tried again. Still nothing. At this point I'm thinking that it's stuck and that I'm going to need to fly it with mini engines, but I wanted to give it one more shot.
It pulled loose.
Anyway, good chance that it flies tomorrow. Fields are wet enough to keep the ballplayers away, and the chance of rain is only 30%. I might have a picture or two.
