'chute question
My first nylon 'chute. Does it need to be powdered like plastic 'chutes?

No, not really. The powder is for plastic chutes since that material can have a tendency to stick to itself. Nylon chutes or chutes made from other cloth-like materials tend not to stick to itself really any at all.
Still, like all chutes, try to pack relatively shortly before flight to keep it from 'setting' in folded condition (though cloth type chutes are far less likely to set once folded as compared to plastic chutes). Earl

I powder mine, but not for the chute sticking to itself.
The first reason is that talc is somewhat of a dry lubricant. So a little friction is reduced as it travels through the airframe. Another reason, to make a little "cloud" at ejection for tracking. Finally, I associate the smell to rocketry, which is probably the best reason. Greg |
