Michael's has the Estes OVERPRICED maxi rod (and it's not really long enough for many models..).

Do you have an ACE Hardware store or other good hardware store? They have steel rods cheap.

If you have a welding supply store in your area, most likely you would be able to get STAINLESS STEEL 3/16" rod in various lengths.
That is what I use for launch rods as you do not have to deal with a rusting issue.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Yes, but I'm going out of town today so I'll see what they have there. There should be a Home Depot and a lot of other stores there that I don't have.

Do a web search, you can find all types of stainless steel rods in a variety of sizes.
Many hobby shops also carry "piano" wire, and a 1/8" piece usually sells for about $1.25, compared to the Estes $10.
