Model rocketry is as safe as safe can be defined in human existence. Bow and pray: GH Stine, Orville, Vern, Lee, Lonnie, Carl, etc. No, really.

Centuri has no awareness level with the general public.

Estes has re-issued 'Centuri' kits at various times in the past up to the present.

Semroc has done a pretty good job of releasing Centuri/Mini-Max/Enerjet kits.
In addition to the Centuri name stilll being in use, I think there are enough of us to support a Centuri renaissance (a 12 year-old in the early 1980s, when it closed as a manufacturer, would be nearing 50 today), after which new Centuri kits would become familiar to today's kids.
