Default FSI Composite motors

Well, I recall some limited discussion on another thread about FSI making composite motors, etc.

anyways - ran acrossed the leetter posted below while rummaging the other night.

appears hand typed (not computer generated, etc) and is hand signed by Harold Reese.

Very interesting!

I wasn't very active in the hobby at the time, but I am pretty sure that FSI's public catalog did not offer any composites at the time.

I wonder if these were used in the special effects side of the business.

I remember in a late 1980s-early 1990s FSI catalog there was a picture of a Thunderbolt G60 motor.

I was working at AeroTech and decided to give FSI a call.

I spoke with Harold Reese. I got the impression that he thought I was trying to 'steal' the secrets of 'their' composite motors. I told him I just wanted to buy one for my collection. He stonewalled me and I eventually hung up.

Years later (Before all the shipping regulations) I bought one from another motor collector.

Bob I remember the Thunderbolt G60 motor in the FSI catalog too. I also remember that catalog page became a blank page in the next couple of catalogs I received
I always wanted to get my hands on one of those.

Since we are discussing vintage motors has anyone checked out the pics Dale Windsor has on his website. (I looked but he doesn't have the Thunderbolt G60 posted there)

I've never seen any of the FSI G60's in person.

as for Dale's site, I;ve been in contact with dale a while, and owe him some pics * me bad *

Many of the motors on his site were at one time part of my large collection (sold off in the mid 90's to a collector, who then sold his collection to Dale).

Lot of cool old stuff there :-)

(need to find my G62 so I can get him pics of that one for the site, one of the first available G motors )
