Default Information request

As we get closer to being able to work on the Model Rocket History site we find that we need to collect information on many of the smaller companies that are doing such a great job creating new stuff. If you are one of these small manufacturers, please take the time to send us information about the history of your company and products.

Thanks,

Mario

Here's a quick and easy company entry, Mario: My now-defunct company, Nova Hobbies, produced one kit, a 1/12th scale mini motor powered model of the Cooper Development ASP (Atmospheric Sounding Projectile) sounding rocket. (An EMRR review of the ASP kit is here: http://www.rocketreviews.com/review..._nova_asp.shtml ). This was a kitted version of Peter Alway's ASP model plan in his book "The Art of Scale Model Rocketry," and he very graciously drew the kit assembly illustrations and even produced the camera-ready instruction sheet masters for me.

I started Nova Hobbies in Miami in 1995, and when I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1997 I moved the company (just a few boxes of kit parts and company stationery) here as well, where it operated until about 2004. The company didn't fail--I just found it too exhausting and overwhelming to "wear *all* of the hats" in my sole-proprietorship business. (Incidentally, if any other company would like to pick up production of this ASP scale kit, they have my encouragement and blessing!)
