Default Help a fellow rocketeer

We had a injury incident at our last launch at Bong, Adrian Butler took a land shark to his shin luckily no broken bones but it required 17 stitches.

Because of the location this injury it required time off from work, the NAR will cover expenses over $5,000 which means he (we) need to come up any costs below that.

Here is a go-fund-me link please help Adrian out.

https://www.gofundme.com/sf5j6gn8 proceeds will go directly to Adrian.

So this is their 2nd accident?

Last time I heard the copay was $1,000 for the first event then $5,000 for the 2nd.

Has that changed?

It is the first incident that I know of.

The deductible has been $5000 for a long time.

The deductible is applied for each incident regardless if it is the first, second, third or fourth.

If this is the first incident, y'all really might want to check the deductible amount you need to raise again.

As recently as 4 years ago when I was president of BRB and per the NAR website there were two steps to deductibles. The first incident the deductible was $1,000. The second incident was $5,000. To my knowledge that hasn't changed. Our club has maintained $1,000 in our account for that exact purpose for more than 7 years. That's why I asked if it had recently been changed; and by recent I mean the last year or so.

From NAR website.

"3.What are the deductibles for the insurance?

The NAR policy has a $5,000 deductible per Bodily Injury & Property Damage Claim. Members are personally responsible for payment of the first $1,000 of the deductible. If a member is responsible for more than one claim in any NAR policy period, they will be responsible for the entire amount of the NAR deductible. In the event of a claim filing, failure to pay the deductible may be cause for the loss of membership benefits."

It says there is a 5,000 deductible - but the member is only responsible for $1,000. If there is more than 1 claim the member is responsible for $5,000. I assume on the first incident NAR pays the remaining $4,000.

Big difference between 1st & 2nd incident. So, do they really need $1000 or $5,000?

I see and, I stand corrected!

I read this as one incident per individual not club. And yes I did receive an Email from Ted Cochran stating close to the same thing but his wording was:

"our insurance policy has a $5000 deductible, of which the first $1000 is the responsibility of the flyer, and the remaining $4000 is paid, when necessary, by the NAR."

Which threw me off, I took this as the NAR may pick up $4,000 of the deductible when necessary but also may not, kind of non-committal.

Are you allowed to describe the incident (what type and size rocket, what distance was he standing from the pad, etc.)?

Thanks,
So, a Priority Stealth on a CTI G33 that chuffed, lifted away from the pad, fell, and a few seconds later re-lit, and the spectator was 35-40ft away and watching. I'm assuming it was a cut or a blunt force tear and not a burn.
