Exclamation Upscale Design -- SLS Tau Draconis

A 1.77X upscale of a design from 2008. The original flies on a 13mm engine, and uses the "Tau Zero" nose cone. This design requires a new nose cone, designated BC-11107. It fits the ST-11 tube, and is 10.7" long.

The ring tail tube is 4.5", and may need to be hand-crafted unless someone spots a suitable alternative. I've removed the tube data from other manufacturers out of my RockSim databases.

Deployment velocities are a bit high, so use the nylon parachutes instead of the normal plastic type.

Length: 37.70"
Diameter: 1.84" (BC-11107)
Fin Span: 6.874"
Weight: 4.69 oz

E12-4......604'......Dv 25 FPS......Requires 36" of a 48" x 1/4" rod......Avg of six runs

Quick update on the nose cone designation. I should append the letters "TZ" to the end of the identifier -- BC-11107TZ. That way, the "11107" part can be used for more than one item, and it will tell you what the shape is easily.

I haven't looked in awhile, but at one time, Totally Tubular had 4.5" tube for those wanting to build a full scale Arcas.

I looked through one of the older BTDATA files and spotted Rogue Aerospace's T-117 tube, which is 4.59" OD x 4.51" ID.

This is the LINK TO TOTALLY TUBULAR.

TT's T-4.5" is 4.546" OD x 4.476" ID...

I'll rework the plan to use this tube, which will give correct fin patterns.

Exclamation Revised Plan

This revision changes the ring to the Totally Tubular T-4.5 body tube, and modifies the support fin accordingly. The ring was also reduced to 1.25" from 1.375" as a way to reduce the Dv.

The weight was increased to 4.73 oz. The other size specs remain the same.
