New Design -- SpaceX Falcon 1
I was looking through the F1 "User Guide" last night and found a great set of line drawings for the early F1 that finally achieved orbit. With a little bit of GIMP scale-up, I was able to get the diameter of the body to match ST-8, making this a rather smart little 13mm bird.
The NC is a custom-cut, and I will set up a pattern at SEMROC for it. Look for BC-822-F1. Fins are 0.015" clear polycarbonate. Maybe Carl can tell us if this stuff can be laser-cut. Recovery is a 15" x 1.5" paper streamer. Length: 11.90" Diameter: 0.908" (ST-8) Fin Span: 2.76" Weight: 0.82 oz (with .125 oz ballast) 1/2A3-4T......222'......Dv 22 FPS......NO BALLAST......Requires 18" of a standard 36" x 1/8" rod......Avg of six runs A3-4T.........508'......Dv 21 FPS......0.125 oz ballast......Requires 25" of a standard 36" x 1/8" rod......Avg of six runs Share and Enjoy!
